The Nebraska-based Whiskey Creek Franchise Systems, LLC is building its first Indiana restaurant in Kokomo.

Whiskey Creek Wood Fire Grill features steak, barbecue, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, salads and 50-plus flavors of margaritas.

The restaurant is moving into the former Ryan's Steakhouse at the corner of U.S. 31 and Carter Street.

The restaurant's wood-fired grill along with its seasonings and sauces give each meal its unique flavor, according to its Web site.

At each opening, Whiskey Creek has a branding party. The restaurant invites area cattlemen to bring their family brands that are burned onto the bar.

Whiskey Creek was the first to introduce the Flat Iron steak in 2002 and the first chain in America to feature source-verified beef, according to its Web site.

The restaurant is expected to open in August. For more information go to: http://www.whiskeycreek.com
