GREENTOWN - Country music artist and Kokomo native Paul Stout entertained dozens Thursday at the 2009 opening of "Music at the Fountain."

"The event gets more popular ever year and it's a laidback atmosphere with a lot of variety," said committee chairperson Jolene Role.

Stout sang original country songs as well as familiar songs from other artists. Some of the original songs he sang were "I Found Jesus on MySpace" and "One More Time."

He released his first country music single in 2008. "Storms" topped out at number 21 on the Powersource Country Music Chart.

Thursday marked Stout's third year singing in the summer-long concert series, according to Rule. After the concert, the audience was able to buy his CDs and take pictures with the musician.

During the halfway point of the concert, the audience was invited to participate in two cakewalks.

The weekly concert series returns next Thursday with music from "Harmony Magic" and "The Brass Works."Â "Harmony Magic" is a Barbershop women-singing group and "The Brass Works" is a group of six musicians who play Big Band, Dixieland, Show Tunes and hymns.

"Music at the Fountain" runs every Thursday at 7 p.m. on Meridian Street in front of the Greentown City Hall until Sept. 17.
