GREENTOWN- Dozens clapped their hands and tapped their feet Thursday as theatre organist Bill Tandy entertained the audience at this week's "Music at the Fountain."

Tandy, who is a WWKI radio personality, played a variety of songs from different genres. During his performance, he also changed the sounds the instrument made from piano to electric piano. Some of the songs he played were "Alley Cat," "Shanty Town," "Beer Barrel Polka," "Hawaiian Wedding Song," "In the Garden" and "God Bless America." As the event continued he invited Sally Duke, next week's entertainer, to take the stage. Duke sang a couple of songs, including "How Great Thou Art," with Tandy providing the organ to compliment her.Â

Tandy said he has played the organ for 33 years. He began playing the organ while in college and later played it at Sally's Stage in his hometown of Chicago. After five years there, he moved to Kokomo and began playing full time at Pipe Dream Restaurant. He has lived in Kokomo ever since, he said.

During the midpoint of the concert, the audience was invited to participate in three cakewalks.

The weekly concert series continues next Thursday with gospel singer Sally Duke. Duke said she would entertain the audience with herself and Phil and Polly Conner.  The gospel tunes will be new and old, she said. Also Duke plans on doing a comedy skit.

"The people really loved it last year," she said. "It broke everybody up."

"Music at the Fountain" runs every Thursday at 7 p.m. on Meridian Street in front of the Greentown City Hall until Sept. 17.
