An award winning Southern Gospel music chart-topping quartet will be singing at a local church on Sunday.

Kokomo First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington St., will be hosting "Legacy Five" at 6 p.m. Sunday. The doors will open at 5 p.m. The event is free and there will be a free-will offering, said Joanna Hedrick, First Church of the Nazarene secretary.

Legacy Five began performing in 2000. The group was created by Roger Bennett and Scott Fowler who were two members of the world-famous "Cathedral Quartet." "The Cathedrals" ended performing in 1999 after singing 39 years.

Today Legacy Five is composed of Frank Seamans, tenor; Glenn Dustin, bass; Scott Howard, baritone; Scott Fowler, lead singer; and Tim Parton, pianist.

Legacy Five's first album titled "Strong in the Strength" earned a Favorite Album of the Year nomination in 2000. In that album was the group's first single release titled "I Stand Redeemed" and it was nominated for Southern Gospel Song of the Year and reached number two on the radio charts.

In 2003, they created the album titled "London" and it was nominated for Favorite Album of the Year and from that album came their first number one single, "I Found Grace."

Later in 2004, the group won Favorite Group, Favorite Pianist, Favorite Baritone and Favorite Bass at the Sing News Fan Awards.

The group has had several top 10 radio singles.
