Sirloin tips new at county fair

GREENTOWN - The county fair each year is known for its food. People come to purchase corn dogs, elephant ears and corn-on-the-cob at one of the many vendors sprawled across the fairgrounds.

One might not think about trying sirloin tips. New at the Howard County Fair this year is Mark's Concessions' Sirloin Tips. The trailer is located south of the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center.

The sirloin tips come with red-skinned potatoes, sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms. The beef is Indiana raised and the food is made fresh every day on iron skillets, said manager Jamie Frazier.

"Really, you almost have to eat it to explain the taste," he said. "It's so tender and delicious."

This food may be new to the Howard County Fair, but it may not be to followers of auto racing. Frazier said the trailer travels to many NASCAR races and it will be at the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard next week. The food also travels to Daytona Beach, Fla. every year.

"We sell this down south during Daytona Bike Week in March," he said. "They just can't get enough of it."

Next week the outfit will also be at the Johnson County Fair in Franklin, south of Indianapolis.

The 23-year-old company is based out of New Paris, Ohio, near Richmond.
