Check out our album from Thursday's "Music at the Fountain."

GREENTOWN- It was a night filled with gospel music and comedy at this week's edition of "Music at the Fountain." This week's concert was held at the Lion's Pavilion at the fairgrounds because of the chance of rain.

Sally Duke, a Greentown resident and daughter of a preacher, entertained the dozens with her singing. Phil and Polly Conner joined her for many of the songs. Some of the song selections included: "Celebrate Jesus' Name," "Baptism," "Old Friends," "All Fly Away," "Loving God, Loving Each Other" and "Eastern Gate."

Duke has performed her singing in 46 states and 22 countries, she said. One song she sings at each place she goes is "How Great Thou Art." On Thursday she kept that streak alive, but this time she sang it a cappella since the CD was unavailable.

"I guess I will have to sing it in a cappella like I would in the forest," she said to the audience before singing.

She said she has sang "How Great Thou Art" in the caves of New Zealand, on the edge of the Grand Canyon and in the redwood forest.

The audience was also treated with some comedy by meeting Ima Pane, a possible alter ego of Duke. The crowd laughed as Pane and Phil Conner exchanged one-liners. The "Music at the Fountain" audience first met Ima Pane last year and on Thursday they learned more about her wacky family.

At the halfway point of the evening, the audience was invited to participate in two cakewalks. Pastry Diva of Greentown donated the cakes.

Coming next week, Aug 27, will be "The Lord's Servants," a bluegrass gospel music group.

"Music at the Fountain" runs every Thursday at 7 p.m. on Meridian Street in front of the Greentown City Hall until Sept. 17. It is a community program of the Greentown Main Street Association.
