Dozens came to the US 31 Corridors Comprehensive Plan Kick-off at Kresge Auditorium on the IU Kokomo campus Wednesday evening.

The first meeting of the series addressed the planning process of the new route and the impacts on the existing route regarding land use, aesthetics and economic development.

"It's good to get community support," said Glen Boise, chairman of the technical advisory board in cooperation with the Kokomo and Howard County Governmental Coordinating Council. "We have different opinions and it's good to get them written down so we can get it started."

The next meeting will be in one or two months. Shane Burkhardt, director of planning services with American Structurepoint, Inc., said the City of Kokomo and Howard County are planning to put up Web sites about the progress of the US 31 Corridors Project.
