Popular fireworks for Independence Day

Posted: July 4, 2009

Boom, crackle, pop, aww. This weekend many locals will be expressing their independence in different ways. They may watch a public fireworks show or explode one on their own.

Marvin Boswell, the manager of Kokomo's USA Fireworks locations, is familiar with what each firework does.

"USA Fireworks lets me shoot off items from the store before and after the season," he said. "I get comments from patrons and I know what these things do."

He said the top selling fireworks are Excalibur artillery shells and they cost $89.99. The second-best selling fireworks are fountains, he said, because they make whistling and crackling sounds and they have good noise and color.

For kids, the top-selling items are parachutes. A rocket parachute costs $3.99.
